citreon picasso 03 - lights gone on speedometer :-(
Can someone help...... is this a case of replacing a bulb? Really worried this will cost a bomb (my husband and I know zilch about cars!)
If so is it something that can be done (prob by my dad!) and where would i order the bulb from?
Many thanks (and sorry for all the questions!)
Thanks

Do the lights on the rest of the dashboard (e.g. fuel gauge) work?0

The Dash lights normally have a dimmer switch, maybe you have caught it cleaning the car or pressed it by mistake.Just check and make sure.0

I've had two Picassos and replacing the dash lights was a regular occurance. It's an easy job. It's cheaper to buy the bulbs from Halfords or Maplins, Citroen dealers tend to be a tad expensive.0

do you know what bulbs I would be looking for or is it something that halfords would know? sorry for the dumb questions!0 -
Halfords should know as the Picasso is a pretty common car. I'd be more inclined to go to an independent though as they're usually cheaper and more helpful.
Changing dashboard bulbs is a pretty annoying job. You don't need any knowledge of car mechanics, but you do need to be handy with a screwdriver and good at remembering what order you took things apart in. If you're feeling cheeky, ask if the Halfords "We'll fit it for £2.99" offer applies to dashboard bulbs, but I bet it doesn't.0 -

The Picasso dash (or at least the illuminated part) only has a couple of torx screws and then pulls straight out, I didn't even disconnect the ribbon cable since there was so much room. The bulbs are Halfords part no 286.
This article on the Picasso owners club site has more info: http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/picasso/index.php/topic/7700-digital-dash-display/0 -
bulb could be brought from eurocarparts or gsf. the torx tool is £6 from maplin for a swiss army knife kinda tool0
