Would First Direct transfer my money ?

Options
I'm having a look at new bank accounts, and I've came accross First Direct, which has some good reviews.

Would First Direct transfer all my money from Barclays and close my Barclays account for me ?

Also, are they as good as there cracked up to be ?

Thanks.

They wouldn't transfer the balance or close it for you (only found co-op do that) but they will transfer over any standing orders and direct debits for you.

You just do a faster payment from your Barclays account to your new FD account, or write a cheque and post it to them in the freepost envelopes that they provide.

And you can use HSBC branches to deposit and withdraw money (although large cash amounts should be arranged with FD first), you just can't manage the account in branch.

I changed to First Direct about 14 months ago and they have been excellent. The transfer didn't go 100% smoothly as two DD payments didn't get setup correctly, however for both of these it was the institutions whom were being payed that were at fault. First Direct provided me with paper copies of the DD setup instructions they had sent to both organisations, and wrote a covering letter on my behalf, all this was free of charge and done in a timely manner. I can't recommed them enough! Oh and I think there has been only one occasion where I haven't been able to speak with a customer service representative within 15 seconds.

Been with First Direct 18 years, think they are great, one word of warning though, if you are naughty you will pay for it!
