Burton Store Card Advice

Hi All,
Sorry If I havent posted in the right area, but I am after some advice. Over the weekend I was stupid enough to sign up a Burtons Store card thinking it was like a Tesco Club Card...long story short. I am looking to cancel, as soon as the card arrives. The form says to write to them or call Customer Services, I have 14 days after my card arrives to do this, and they will let me know how much I have to pay and how to pay it.
I was just after some advice should I pay the payment off in Burtons store then write to Santander (who provide the Store Card) to cancel or is it just better to write to them and wait for them to let me know?
This is one mistake I wont be making again!
Thanks in advance!

There is a cheaper number to call on the http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php site 0208 181 0000 for Burtons Store card
and there is a button to press if you want to close the account and you can pay the bill over the phone by debit card or via the website http://www.santandercards.com/login.html (works in IE and not Firefox)
The above methods should result in a quick closure of the account
There will be no interest to pay - so the amount you spent is the amount to repay and close the accountHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
This is great, is the number you provided the one that diverts to Leeds?
Can you close the account via the link?
Im guessing I will need to wait for my card to do this
Thanks for the quck reply and help.0 -
The phone isn't answered in the UK on that number
I have closed an account using that number in the past though (account had a credit balance)
You cant close the account using that link , don't they give you the card number in store ?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
No they didnt give me it in store.
Sorry I did a search using that site and thought that number diverted to Leeds:
by Santander Cards UK
- Account enquires
(diverts to Leeds)
Also 0113 2807080
I will just have to wait I guess, as this is the first time I have done this, is it easy to close an account? Thanks0 -
Yes it diverts to Leeds but is answered overseas
You won't be able to do much without the card number , it is very easy to close the accounts
you can also use the ASDA card number to call them free 0800 9520101 (requires pressing more buttons than the other number)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
