I will be arriving at Gatwick Airport 1am on the 1st May. I have booked a room at Travelodge Gatwick Central for the night.
I will be arriving at Gatwick airport by train at 1am. What bus and where do I get it from to get the the Travelodge Gatwick Central?
Thanks In Advance.

This from the Travelodge website:Important Information
The airport operates a shuttle bus service from the North and South terminals which runs 24 hours each day. Please note that there are two separate Gatwick Travelodge Hotels and this hotel is the Central hotel, serviced by the following bus numbers G1, G3 and G7. The service runs every 15 minutes between the times of 5am and Midnight and every 30 minutes between Midnight and 5am. Transfer time between the hotel and terminals is less than 15 minutes. A one way ticket is £3 for adults and £1.50 for children.
So just head straight into the South Terminal from the station.0 -
I recently stayed at this travelodge.
You can get the airport bus from the south terminal for a rip off charge of £3 ONE WAY for around a mile's journey! OR you could save yourself £3-£6 and walk to the hotel.
To do this, exit the south terminal - towards the island and then walk alongside the A23. You will then approach an Esso garage. From the Esso garage turn left and you will see a Best Western. Next door to the Best Western is the Travelodge.
Please note that there are no foot paths alongside the A23 so this isn't ideal if you are carrying large luggage. It should take around 10 minutes max to walk from the South Terminal to the travelodge. There is no way in hell I would pay £3 to get the bus when it's such a short walk.
You may also want to bring some cheap snacks as the vending machine is expensive. i.e £1 for a can of coke.0 -
I have to agree, the bus trip is a rip off.
It's also a shame that the area is so pedestrian-unfriendly. How hard would it be to provide proper pavements for people to do short walks between the terminals and their accommodation? Grass verges are safe enough but can get mucky. Do you think that when they spent millions building an airport and approach roads they thought they'd save a few quid by not bothering with pavements?0 -

Would you recommend getting the shuttle to the north terminal, then walking from there along the A23?

From Gatwick Train Station follow the signs to the air shuttle. This will then take you to the north terminal. From the north terminal exit the terminal then walk towards the airport exit and along the A23.
What baggage will you be taking? I walked with a backpack and had no problems. Save your £3 and walk :-)0
