Ppi help with the Halifax.

Evening all,

I am trying to help my brother with a large ppi claim. He was going to use a firm, but I have persuaded him to have a go himself with mine and the forums help.

I sent theletter template requesting the opening loan agreement and received that without problem. The loan expired in April 2010 having started in March 2003. The initial loan amount was 25,000 and the statement displays an opening insurance payment of nearly £6,000.

We believed this to be PPI, but the statement only said "insurance" and the amount. Rather vague.

Armed with what we believed to be a good start for a claim, we filled out the claim form displayed on the site and we have an account number referencing the account, but we cant find a policy number for the insurance. My brother rung the Halifax and they claim that there is no policy number for the account, but can conveniently provide the policy number for an old and much smaller loan.

Can the insurance amount quoted be anything other than PPI?

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Almost definitely upfront PPI which is a good reason for mis sell, just state the account number you have and it looks like it might lead to another smaller previous loan, if not do the same for that one after getting the number for it, send off the questionnaire for the one you know and see what they come back with ;)

Just to confirm. I have the account number of the large loan, but not an insurance policy number. Shall i just send the questionnaire with the account number and leave the policy number blank, but state the Halifax's lack of help in providing one?

Just send the questionnaire with the account number and leave the policy number blank ;) no need to state Halifax were not forthcoming as it is to them you will be sending it and they will probably ignore that comment :) Good luck

Also look at any other reasons for mis sell and if any apply include them but your main reason is upfront payment that you have had to pay interest on ;)
