Peugeout 107, C1 or a Fiesta?

Im looking to get a new car ( about 3 years old) and would like advise about buying a Peugeot 107/c1/Fiesta.

I have a van for work, a motorhome for holidays and a 12 yr old 2.0 Mondeo with 150k on the clock.

TBH 3 x car tax at over £200 and the Mondeo doing 20mpg is no good. I was thinking of getting a little car as a city runabout, odd trip to Tesco, take the wife to work. We have grown up away from home kids now so will only carry back seat passengers infrequently. A few times a year we might have to load it with diving gear and do a 200mile motorway trip.

Going from a 2.0 petrol to a 1 litre is a concern. Even though no big distances to travel will it seem too slow? In the past Ive never been a fan of slow cars, but I am getting older now.

Would a Fiesta be a better option? I can get a 1.25 engine but downside is pay more tax and less MPG although I think the boot is bigger. I read that a fiesta costs more to tax.

Has anyone got a 107/c1/Yaris? If so, are you happy with it ? Is performance and boot space an issue?

So any suggestions please. Budget is under 5k, air con is a must. Will probably buy at auction/auto trader.
On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.

Very happy with our Aygo. It will never melt tarmac, but it has a very revvy engine and excellent gearbox. 3rd is good from 15 mph to just over 80. Boot space is an issue if you need to carry lots of gear, but with no rear passengers drop the back seats and there's lots of space.

£20 road tax, never less than 45mpg and ours does mainly local trips, well over 60mpg on a run.

200 mile trips are possible, but not something I'd want to do a lot of.

The C1 and 107 (and the Aygo) are the same car and basically Toyota parts with different badges on the front. They are city cars so you can get 4 people in them but the boot is very small. The Fiesta is from the next class up (super mini) so will be bigger and have more space (especially in the boot).

Have you also considered the Hyundai i10?

You could always try the Fiesta Econetic, which lowers the emission of CO2 and the road tax is lower.
I also had an aygo which I never had any complaints with, used to travel regularly from near Glasgow to Liverpool and back with no major complaints, seat aren't exactly 1st class comfortable but not tooo bad, you just have to accept that for the money you're never going to get that level of comfort etc. As other posters have said, the aygo/C1/107 are the same car, just finished slightly different, all have the same engine, built in the same factory. I think the Aygo holds it value better than the other two, but will cost you more, whereas the C1 will cost less but lose more value.
Think overall the Fiesta might be the better deal, personally I didn't like the Fiesta, but that was just me.
Just had a lightbulb moment, you could always check out the new VW Up! it's about the same price range as the others, will hold it's value well and so far i've not read a bad review of it.
    Hope this helps.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

I went from a 2.0 Renault Laguna to a 1.0 base model Kia Picanto!

I miss some of the toys but the Picanto is a great little thing for dashing around town, it's as slow as a week in the jail but nimble enough that inner city driving is actually easier than in the bigger car.

Competent for motorway journeys too, done a few long journeys in it and will be doing more in the near future.

Runs on fresh air and has been pretty solid reliability wise (it has been in for warranty work once, the door seals on the front doors were coming away from the doors)

No boot space to speak of, you'll get a couple of shopping bags in but not much else. Plenty of space with the back seats folded down.

Year 1 service just done a couple of weeks ago, cost £105.99.

I'd recommend looking at offers on brand new cars in this segment - I personally found used to make little sense. If you insist on 2nd hand then the Picanto is definitely worth considering against the 107/C1.

You'd want one with the 7 year warranty though, which I think limits you to cars registered after 1st January 2010. Try to get a "2" or "Strike" if the basic "1" like mine is too stripped out for you (no central locking, no air con, etc)
