Part Buy Part Rent - Good or Bad??

Options
Hi

I am exploring my buying options at the moment and wondered if anyone had any advice or comments on part buy part rent schemes in the Hampshire area?

My situation is I am currently living with my ex-partner after we split up a few months ago - just waiting for a buyer for our house then I can buy my own property. Currently I am living 15 miles away from my family/friends and would love to move closer to them however I cannot afford to buy anything more than a studio flat in their area - not really something I wanted to live in. My only other alternative is to stay in the area I am currently living as I probably could afford to do that, but really want to be closer to my family/friends so am considering part buy part rent however I dont know anyone who has ever bought one of these properties so would appreciate any help or advice good or bad that anyone is willing to share with me to help me decide.

If it helps I would have a decent deposit of around £30,000 and was looking to own around 75% to 80% of property.

Thanks for reading :)

The majority of shared ownership schemes are utter scams. Please avoid.
