Natwest PPI rejection

attempting to claim back PPI on an old loan with natwest and have recieved a letter saying they cannot uphold my claim. They state that this is because i signed all the paperwork regarding PPI. This was my first loan and you know how nervous this can make you, when signing the paperwork i had no idea that it was optional and assumed it was just part of getting a loan. Surely if the reason they gave me was true then nobody would have a leg to stand on as everyone will have signed something and therfore nobody would be successful in their claims. Is it just a case that they'll be hoping i will forget about the claim or should i try again through the FOS???

Was this their full and final say on the matter?
Do you know if it was an upfront single premium PPI, put on at the beginning?
If it was upfront and it's not their final say, write back and state the fact as upfront is frowned upon by the FOS. If you still get no joy FOS it ;)

Most successful complaints have a failing. Either in the setting up or the eligibility or they just get lucky as that lender is auto paying out on claims under a certain amount. Verbal allegations of what was said are the weakest complaint going and pretty easy to reject.

As mentioned by dilus, the single premium with interest charged complaint is better to go for.
