Urgent help needed - purchasing a caravan with outstanding finance on it

you are of course very lucky that you found a genuine vendor
in future always do a hpi on a caravan and make sure you know where the number is yourself and unmolested
lots of caravans move up and down the country with the sole aim of ripping somebody off

sb, we have always done hpi/cris checks on all our previous caravans so we know what to do. The vendors seem a little naive I think, in that she seems to be the one who is worried that we will take the caravan and she will find out further down the line that the finance hasnt been paid off and she will be chased for a debt for a caravan she no longer has.

It seems like we both have good reason to be cautious. But, if I do the HPI/CRIS check and then pay off the finance on Saturday morning when I meet her I cant really see what else there is I can do. There shouldnt really be any space for a problem. (If there is then please tell me)

Are they going to tell you the phone number to ring or ring from their own home? Might sound a bit paranoid but guess i'm just overly cautious. I never give my card details out unless a) I've called them and b) I've done so on a number that is well linked to them.

Unholyangel - no, the finance is with Black Horse, so I have obtained the number myself and will ring them from my own phone. I will ask them to confirm that the finance is relating to this caravan aswell (they will probably want to speak to vendor to get her permission to give me that info but that should be ok)

Just one more thing, which I think makes things seem alot more safe, the caravan is stored on the dealers storage compound. They bought the caravan from this dealer and the dealers have been there for years. My husband spoke to the dealer and they confirmed that they bought the caravan from them and they arranged their finance through Black Horse for them.
