Could you sort me out for 3 days,4 star B+B in Madrid for under £90 inc flights then Sam? oh, it has to coincide with school holidays, too.TBecket100 will probably want you to book another long weekend in Barcelona, must be 4 or 5 star B+B, budget around £40 each.

We have just been away - 4 of us all inclusive to the canaries for one week - DIY cost us £750 - airtours quoted £1600 for the exact same holiday.

It took time to pull it all together but basically, i work on the basis of spend more time, less money! That way we get two hols per year instead of one!

Don't tar everyone with the same brush.

You won't be able to undercut one of the holidays I organise via online or DIY. FACT.

That sounds like a challenge! :D

I have to be honest and say I never gave it a 2nd thought. We have a timeshare (we are in a holiday club) that we go to once a year and have been staying in the UK until now - we pay £400 a year for fees and for that we get an apartment in a hotel overlooking the sea. To me that seems fine as it is a nice place to stay so we have not really dealt with Agents for years either. But, as the kids get older we are looking further afield. We want to fly Virgin as the Bagage allowance is good and they are not bad on the times we have flown with them - and yes, admittedly we have a week sitting with RCI that we can take for £150 (Sheraton Vistana in I Drive looks really nice as we get an aprtmant with washing machine, etc.. perfect for us - BUT was looking at Disney to get the extra hours in if only going for a week - this is why I started hunting). In all fairness I could book tomorrow for the cost of plights plus £150 but I am still astounded that Virgin can overcharge on the accomodation by this amount, I never really thought about shopping around elsewhere for the holidays - it is nice that the Internet gives us this option.

So Sam Bee, what are your prices on flying VA to Orlando International on 1st December. I'd be interested to hear but also, is there any comeback if anything falls through. Would not want to be like those families on Watchdog getting to the Airport and finding out that the tickets have not been paid for - scary thought!!. Thanks.

Wow, that is a great saving. Well done. Yes I agree, the money saved gives you an extra holiday or treat.

I don't mind where we go, i'd just like to surprise my boyfriend with a really cheap few days away. We can fly from any northwest..?

Oh, sorry, did I fail to mention that we only deal with small, locally owned hotels in South East Asia, most holidays being 2/3/4 centre ;)

But have fun in Madrid, those school holiday dates can be a !!!!!!!
