I want to stop in Bangkok for a night or two to see the sights. Clean and central is all that's required. Any ideas please ?

I've stayed at the Krit Thai Mansion a few times very central and cheap. I think it was about £13 a night last time I was there 15 months ago.

BTW, You'll need air conditioning, we stayed at the Bel Aire Princess which was fine.

Pathwuan princess right next to the Huge MBK shopping centre cheapest place to buy your clothes the best hotel by far stayed there for a week 25 metre out door pool amazing buffet breakfast and a huge gym to use as well and you dont even have to go outside to get into the shopping centre as you have your own private door linking both i would highly recommend it

A clean double air con room is about £13, has pool, good food and a no prostitute policy (so you don't have to watch them getting slobbered over by Westerners as you have a pool side drink )

It really does the job and is within walking distance of the Grand Palace etc, which you would not doubt be going to see
