Citroen keys question

Hi all,

Wondered if anyone can help me with this please.

Just bought a Citroen C8. Happy with the car. Came with one normal key and one that does the remote locking. The remote works fine but has seen better days, looks realy scruffy, so would like to get a new one but i cant seem to find much information on them. All the ones i see are rectangular, this is more an oval shape like below (but with only 2 buttons and a flat blade).
Dont care which shape the new one would be, as long as it works, though i do prefer the look of the rectangular one's. citroen-c5-2004-08-flick-key.jpg

I know with vauxhalls they have loads of different type of transponders etc, if its the same for citroen, How would i know which type to get?

(Was going to re-case mine, but the board inside is a funny shape too so dont think it would fit in a rectangular case)

Dont want to go to a dealer unless i have to as i know they will charge an absolute fortune.

Can anyone help me with this please?

Thanks in advance, Mark.

Thanks for that, but i'm still no further forward.

They do the normal keys, with transponders (which i may order another just as an emergency key), but they dont do the one's that do the remote locking, which is what i'm having the problem locating.

A genuine Citroen uncut transponder key costs about £85.

Then you need to cut it (your local locksmith would charge about £5) and program it.

Your dealer can program it using their Lexia Citroen computer (they charge about £50-£100), or you can ask at the frenchcarforum.co.uk and someone local to you should be able to program it with their Chinese knock-off ebay Lexia for free.

A local garage with sp diagnostics key programming could also help, the C8 is listed on my,Applications list,as are many other makes and models.
