Virgin:ntl 15 Minute Saving

Hi everyone today I used my moneysaving skills I learned from here moneysaving.com:money: to lower my VIRGIN/NTL bill so I phoned virgin media said I thought my bill was too high and I think I will go to BT. I got a helpful man very helpful so:
 USED TO PAY A MONTH

TELEPHONE: £11 (Free calls at weekend to landlines which is MEDIUM option)
BROADBAND: £17.50 (Already got half price as it's 10 Mb should be £35 for XL)
TV: £4.00 ( Basic mid pack)

NOW
TELEPHONE: £11 ( Should be £16.50 as it's LARGE option)
BROADBAND: £17.50 ( Still half price 10 Mb which is XL option)
TV: £4.00 (Still same mid pack)

Also I got my late payment of £10 previously charged to me credited back:T
Also yes more the £5 non-direct payment charged removed aswell:j
So all in all he was very helpful and all I have to do now is phone back every third month to get it all reinstated again, so give it a try it took me 15mins to do and I'm no money brainbox or haggler by anymeans

I'll never understand why people are happy when they're told to phone up and haggle again in 3 months.

Do they want your custom or not?

I'd like to think you'll make that call in 3 months and tell them you're not prepared to do so again so you're going to move to BT (or whoever) unless they make the deal permanent.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Hi thanks for your post and link but the thing is when you call up again in 3 months you don't have to haggle again, I know this because I have already been doing this with the broadband half price for nearly a year now just call up say what you get already and you want to get it again, considering it's a total saving of £84 over each 3 months and £336 a year even if I did have to haggle which I don't for 15mins every 3 months I would for the saving, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would. "better in my pocket than theirs, anyway Richard Bransons doing ok";) :rotfl:
  • I had to haggle with NTHell/Virgin to get our overfat bill reduced.
They offered me the same price as the advertised 3 for £30 pack and 3 months off the £5 NoN direct-debit charge (what a bloody cheek that charge is.) I asked why they did not give ALL customers the same prices. Cheats.

NOW I have decided to leave them and take TV/Tel/basic BB for £15/month from sky with free wireless router and free sat dish install via the Quidco £55 cashback offer I read about here.

So very sorry Richard, you have bought a piginapoke, NTL were sh*te for years, I just wish I'd packed my bags sooner, especially after a £10 phone call to a foreign BroadBand help-line to get email working.
    Stuff-off NTL/Virgin!

If you use NTL e-mail address(es), make the change to address(es) which don't tie you to your ISP before you terminate their broadband.

As Martin recommended recently, gmail addresses are now available without 'invitation'.

  • I was looking at changing to Sky's £15/month package as I have had no end of problems with NTL/Virgin but I am tied into a contract until August.

With the takeover having taken place am I still tied into the contract that I signed with NTL?? ...I am confused as to my rights!

  • Good news, I got all my late payment fee charges back from NTL/Virgin (whoever) this morning I just called them and told them straight I wanted these charges back. Well thanks to this website £140 is being returned to me, I hope others will be following and claiming these charges back. I have many times argued with ntl over the phone about these charges and with me not being clever I hadn't the ammunition to put my case forward, but thanks to this website again, I had the armoury and war the war.

Right enough for now, have to get these letters printed to my banks for the charges, who needs to go to work to earn cash?
