Greenbee - thanks for that - I read that blog and had completely forgotten about it. I need the bleach/bio powder for whites rather than general cleaning but will definitely be having a go at making it for a household cleaner - love the idea of it being citrus-y.

The kidney-bean-instead-of-sweetcorn-tuna-mayo was not very good with the baked potato so I'll mix the second portion with some cucumber that needs to be used up and have that with some soup tomorrow.

Rain has stopped and the sun is shining so must be off to the garden/allotment for more of my favourite hobby - growing my own food :T Lots of home made compost to sieve so I can avoid buying any.

Do you know the time and temperature if cooking in a proper oven? I don't have a microwave, but these sound tasty.

    I don't sorry - but I'd make a guess at 180 for about 20 mins - or a similar time as a flapjack recipe.

here's the recipe for the crumblies. I reduced the cooking time to 6 mins and found they were better.

    Jam Crumblie

    6oz butter/marg
    6oz dark soft brown sugar
    6oz porridge oats
    7oz plain flour
    pinch of salt
    1/2 teaspoon aking powder
    4oz jam

lightly grease an 8" square baking dish(I use my ceramic lasagne dish as its microwave safe)
    Cream fat and sugar together
stir in the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly
Press half the mixture into the dish
melt the jam in the microwave and then spread over the base
crumble on the remaining oat mixture pressing it down lightly
bake in the microwave for 7 minutes on full power
cut into squares and cool in the dish.

It is delicious and any jam can be used also a Christmas version uses mincemeat and has icing sugar dusted on top.

Will pop back later to update my post as I've got to dash out now!

    Jam Crumblies

I think along with twinks cookies these are just blooming gorgeous and I daren't make anymore just yet or I will be the size of a small house .They just are so tasty.
well I got four portions of lamb casserole from my SC this morning and I'm having one for dinner tonight with some of my cauli that I bagged at M&S yesterday.DD gave me a LO portion of apple Struedal to take home with me so that will be my pudding tonight as well.Three portions have gone into the freezer and I have a jug of stock left that will make me some carrot and coriander soup tomorrow as I have a good few carrots to use up so I'm going to make a vat of it and freeze some for later. No more shopping for me until after my hols I think I have worked out that I have enough of everything to last until I go away on the 28th and I will be taking some bits with me as well as I have a good freezer box that will take a good few meals in I can't see it defrosting before I get to Dorset its not more than arond 120 miles from kent and unless we have a sudden heatwave I think it will be fine.
I am writing great long list of what I have in store at the moment and I think i could feed an army at the moment I may donate some sausages to my DD for the boys as they are little banger machines bless 'em.
My mahussive lump of gammon is still in its frozen state and I think i will keep it like that until I return from my hols.
I am so pleased at how well we all have done No wonder the supermarkets are feeling the pinch at the moment .Its so good to be able to think I can adapt this or that instead of just going off and spending in the shops.Tomorrow I will be making some small cakes as my three youngest DGS are coming after school to my house .The middle one Henry has cricket practice so I know he will be ravenous when he gets here.I swear those lads have hollow legs :)but I love to see them eat really and they all have healthy appetites
Right I'm off to have my dinner now
    Take care all

I agree - I've just eaten the last slice with a nice cuppa! I comfort myself with the fact that they are made with nice wholesome ingredients and no additives or e numbers so they cant be all bad:D

For those of you who havent made Twinks yet - go for it as they are also fabulous, like a home made hobnob - but alas also very tasty so might best be avoided if you are dieting;):D

here's the recipe for the twinks.

    Ingredients

    8oz sr flour
    8oz sugar
    8oz porridge oats
    8oz margarine
    1tbsp golden syrup
    1tbsp hot water
    1/2 tsp bic soda

    Instructions

Mix the flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan. Stir in bic soda and add to dry mix.

Then mix well and make into smallish balls which you then put on a greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork. Put in the oven at 180 degrees C for 15 mins... and cool on the tray. The aim is to get them golden in the oven not brown.

I also have a recipe for weetabix cake if anyone is interested.
