Is there a maximum time a company can wait to charge your CC?

I'm not trying to get out of paying anything or suchlike, I was just surprised at how long a company took to charge my credit card.

I went on holiday on December 14th, they scanned my CC for the extras billed to the hotel room but didn't actually charge me until 27th of February.

That seems a little excessive to me.

They have six years in which to claim money owed, although the general consensus seems to be that they shouldn't be charging your card without first advising that they are going to do after six months.

The other side of the coin is that you have in effect had an interest free 'loan' on the amount that should have been debited in December.
I wish all retailers did the same LOL:D

Having had numerous hotel swipe my card on arrival for say, £50 in case I used the mini bar etc., I was always informed that if the purchase was not confirmed within 10 days, it automatically became invalid and the amount would be released to my account, are we talking about the same here, or are you saying that although your card was swiped the charge was not confirmed, as this sounds strange to me, or have I got hold of the wrong end of the stick, so to speak!

Once the money has been ring fenced in your account it will stay on your account for 10 days before being released if the money is not debited (which is what you are talking about). However, the company can still charge after the ring fenced funds have been released, they just don't have the authentication that the transaction won't decline.

Im sure you chased them? Its 6 years to claim money from you
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
