Where to buy one bedroom flat in (fairly) central London?

We're wondering where to look at one bed flats in central(ish) London (almost certainly within zone 2). Our budget is around £300-400k, but we'd rather not overspend if we don't have to. Currently renting in Clerkenwell, where we'd love to live, but flats are pretty expensive. We need a small one bed, not a studio. Any suggestions of areas that might be better value without being very far out?

Try southwark. The tube stop is canada water but along the river you have lovely flats.0

Where do you both work? I remember getting from Angel to the West End one morning and it took me longer than it would travelling in from way out on the Central Line (where I lived at that time).
If you work in the City, I'd buy in N1 or Hoxton. Depends on your lifestyle though, ages, work place, if you need access to any other areas, parking, kids in the equation in next 5 years, etc, etc...

PS if you're working south of the river, I'd definitely be spending it in Blackheath2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0

Have a look at SE10

Agree with hazyjo - depends on where you work.
I live well outside London and commute in, but some people at work live in London and have as long a journey as I do (in terms of time).0 -
We both currently work in South Ken, but we cycle everywhere so public transport isn't a huge issue (but physical distance is, and also having a sensible way of crossing the river if we're south of it). We're both early thirties, not going to have kids, hence small one bed flat is fine.0

I'd be more tempted to go outwards rather than inwards then - Richmond? Ham?

£3-400k? Even in London that's a pretty decent budget.
There are many flats in that range that are lovely. Try W14 - there are some nice garden flats around that price.0 -
How about a one bedroom freehold house with garden in Harrow??!!0
