Dress shrunk- can I take it back?

I bought a dress in H+M yesterday morning (for £10), and wore it out in the evening. I put it on to wash today following the label instructions (40degrees, normal wash) and it has shrunk to the size of a small t-shirt! It looks ridiculous!
Do I have any rights regarding getting my money back? I know it only cost £10 but I'm still annoyed! And I was just wondering what the general rule is if clothing shrinks? I washed it as stated and really didn't expect it to happen. (It's made from 100% viscose.)
Thanks

I think if you followed the instructions on the label there should be no issue with you asking for a refund, although if they say no you'll then have to consider how much of your time you want to spend pursuing it any further.0

Yes they'll refund it for you. Do you still have the receipt? They should refund it without but it might speed the process up if you still have it.0

you should be ok with H&M, they were fine with my daughter when she returned two dresses that shrunk in spite of being washed according to the instructions
she got a refund for one & an exchange for the other because she liked it a lot, but she handwashes it now0 -
Thanks for the replies! Yes, I still have the receipt as I only bought it the day before! Will take it back and hopefully they'll be fine with it.0

I've had this problem with several items recently and have always managed to get a refund with no problems. From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0
