Google Eurocamp, they have plenty of campsites in the South including Cote d'Azur with mobile homes. I would definitely avoid August as being very hot in a mobile home.
You could get a Bison Fute map and drive down on D roads avoiding motorway tolls and saving would pay for an overnight stop which you could also do with Eurocamp.

Taking own car you can take teabags, UHT skimmed milk etc plus you get the fun of going to French supermarkets, boulangerie etc and picking up truly amazing food.

Do the overnight stop on the way back, fill up in Boulogne orCalais and save money on UK fuel prices...and don't forget to bring back wine ;)

When I was a teenager my parents did this with me every year.

We've been to France a lot of times and each area has positives and negatives. Last year we stayed at Eze in between Nice and Monaco. That was lovely, really pretty but expensive as you would expect.
We've also been to Languedoc and that had stunning scenery. You could see the snow capped Pyrynees whilst sunbathing on the beach! We travelled into Barcelona, well Girona as it was cheaper to fly there and hire a car to take to France. It was only a few miles too !
I think I prefer the Cote D'Azur. The sea is warmer that side and that is a big plus for me.
I've just started looking for a villa myself for this summer and I'm considering inland to keep costs down. Sounds like you will have a lovely holiday wherever you go

We stayed at https://www.siblu.com last year near Cap D'Agde. The area was fab and I wouldn't hesitate to go again.

Depends which part of the South of France interests you. I have a second home near Perpignan which we are planning to rent out - sleeps 6, own swimming pool. If that's not the area that interests you a good place to look is Gites de France.

Can you pm me details of the villa you are renting out please?
