Turning a lawn into a Veg bed

Sorry - missed this. I'd do a lazy bed - deturf and turn the turf upside down and plant potatoes into your upside down turf [as deep as you can, use a bulb planter] - mulch with your well rotted manure or straw - and then once the spuds are out you can put leeks in as deep as you can. Both of these will assist you in breaking up your soil.
Grow salads round the side, and carrots in pots. You can also grow other things like toms in the lazy beds, by growing in modules and using that bulb planter to get the roots nice and deep. Do this with everything and then as you get time, prep up small areas for overwintering onions etc. Next spring you should be able to just weed a little, rake and your soil should be lovely and broken up.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it.
