PPI on a defaulted account

My hubs had an Egg account with what we think was mis sold ppi he defaulted on this when it became subject to a DPP under DAS.
The debt has since been sold on to a DCA and they are collecting on the payments.
What I'd like to know is can oh claim back the ppi he paid to Egg given the circumstances above?
Thanks in advance

1. What makes you think it was miss sold.
2. If it was PPI, (payment protection) why did you not action the PPI) It is supposed to cover payments, so that it gets paid for him and would not be in default, its a bit confusing to be honest.
Or am I not getting something here?make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
To be honest my hubs is a completely hopeless case with money and credit - he got himself into a lot of debt from before we met then racked up even more behind my back until I found out 4 yrs ago when I finally got him to speak with a debt advisor who helped him sign up for a DAS (we're in Scotland) and he's been paying the DAS for 4 yrs now at £530 per month.
He wanted to deal with the ppi himself after I successfully reclaimed for him on a NR loan, but it's still not done and now he's asking for my help.
It was suggested to him when he signed up for egg that the ppi we'd be beneficial for the application.
His employer at the time (he'd been there over 20 yrs) had a policy of full year sickness pay, so the cover I would assume we'd be unnecessary.
The default is a result of a DPP - but can we still approach egg to reclaim the ppi on the original agreement?Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .0 -
yes even if the account is in default you can claim it back if it was miss sold. I've just got an offer back from Halifax on a loan thats in default."You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts" - Arthur Schlesinger
Proud to be have dealt with my debtDebt Free Sept 2012

If you are in arrears, defaulted or had amounts written off then the redress payment can be used against those rather than pay it to you. Only if there is surplus above those will you receive anything directly.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Thank you for replies.
The account was sold on by egg to a DCA called RMA, part of the arrow global group I believe.
I'm guessing I'd be able to claim back the interest at least if any claim is upheld?Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .0 -
Hi Similar situation here although successful against Capital One their final offer letter states PPI premiums and associated interest only they left the statutory interest as nil I contacted the Ombudsman who suggest I write to them as they would award the interest and I could also claim additional for Inconvineince payment if i it had to go to the Ombudsman0

Although it does come with a risk. Many PPI refunds are goodwill payments that are auto payout because of backlog or below floor limit. If you go to the FOS they may look at the case more closely and find no wrong doing and withdraw the offer.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi my husband is in a similar situation. His loan was with Barclays and the sold onto regal credit, who he is currently making regular monthly payments.
He is unsure whether or not he was paying ppi initially. Who do we make contact with to establish if he was paying ppi, Barclays or regal credit?0 -
