Kobo Vox....Help!!!!

I wonder if anyone can tell me how I can download library books to my Kobo Vox?
Adobe Digital Editions won't recognise it, although this is what I used to download onto my granddaughters Kobo Touch with no problems whatsoever.
I only want it for library books, not ones I have to pay for....
Also, do I always have to do it through my laptop or is there a way to do it direct to my Kobo?
This was driving me nuts last night...so hope some kind soul can point me in the right direction!

kobo vox now can't support adobe digital editions,so you can use another way to transfer ebooks.
