Fastest Ever Utility Swap?
1. Applied for npower gas on 26 Feb 12. Received contract paperwork from them Fri 2 Mar 12.
2. As I was an old customer they have re-activated my old account (email confirmation received).
3. Entered meter reading today (email receipt received).
4. EON bill was due anyway so entered same reading at 3.
5. Instantly told the amount owing.
6. Paid the amount by debit card online (email receipt received).
7. It'll all probably go horribly wrong by one of them quoting the cancellation rules etc but I can but live in hope!
8. emailed both to tell them what I've done.
9. Cancelled EON DD.
10. I need to check that they've changed the tarrifs on 2.

I would say it will be atleast the 26th March before Npower will be your supplier as it takes 4 - 6 weeks to change supplier (the first 14 days are a cooling off period and cannot be bypassed)0

From your point of view, its smooth...however its 4-6 weeks because of the cooling off period and the fact they have to appoint their agents, old suppliers deappoints theirs, the old supply has a period to object to you going which isn't bypassed either and th new agents have to set up all your data, send back to your new supplier etc based on the old agents telling them what you have. If that's all smooth, it should be easy...plus npower also need to set your account back up only when this data comes no matter what they told you...it won't happen until thrh get the data from their agents.
The industry is working towards 30 days which is easy enough but it all comes down the office backlogs to achieve good performance and utilities are still in the stone age in terms of efficiency from my experience.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
