mobile phone fault

Hi all,

I live and work abroad for part of the year and have a problem with my mobile phone. Because of where I am (Uganda) it's difficult to get electronics so I'll have to wait until I'm back in the UK to get a replacement.

My phone is a Nokia E51 and a few days ago some of the keys on the keypad stopped working. I scanned the internet for ideas and one of them was to heat up the phone with a hairdryer (even though I haven't knowingly got it wet). I don't have a hairdryer but, luckily for me, Uganda is a very warm country so I put the phone in the sun for a few hours and was amazed to find it started working again.

Briefly.

Everything was fine for a few hours and then some keys packed in again. I've repeated the process a couple of times with the same results - works well for a few hours and then knackered again.

So I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light on what's going on? Will the phone eventually sort itself out? Or die completely?

I'm quite happy with the phone when it's working so don't want to buy a replacement unless I have to.

Cheers,

Straggler.

Weak connection somewhere or joint somewhere, it expands in the hot sun and the connection is temporarily restored.
Why would you need to replace the phone? Just change the keypad if that's all the fault is.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

That makes sense. Tried it again this morning with the same results.

If I was in the UK I'd try a replacement keypad but impossible to buy one out here.
