Debt Collection Agency Ignoring payments

I have 2 catalog debts (same company) which I cannot pay full payments on, I got behind when my husband had no work and I only have my state pension. I have had so many letters and phone calls which I have replied to and have sent the agency copies of pay slips financial statements etc and have been paying them £15 every 4 weeks on each which is the maximum I can afford. They just ignore this and are now threating me with court action and bailiffs coming round. I am a disabled pensioner and this is causing me great stress. What can I do to get them to accept these payments and leave me alone? The debt is getting bigger and bigger with the interest and default payments I don't think I will ever be rid of it and really cannot take the thought of years of this pressure.

Unfortunately just because you've offered a reduced payment doesnt mean they have accepted the offer. If they havent then naturally any payment below the required amount will trigger the under/ no payment chasing.
Have you spoken to a debt charity like CCCS?0 -
Best post this on the debt free wannabe board.

How old are the accounts?:beer:0 -
Are they still accepting the £s you are sending? If so, are they knocking them off the balance?
If they are, would it be possible to just ignore their letters or ask a friend or relative to deal with them? Maybe you could send a harrassment warning.
Otherwise, the best idea is CCCS/CAB - sometimes headed paper and an official looking statement of affairs can encourage creditors to agree. It should take some of the pressure off you as well.
Hope this helps.0 -
You have nothing to worry.
Their threats are just empty and hollow.
The fact you have got worried is exactly what they want. No baliffs will come round and no court action will follow. Which agency is it?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thanks all, I first missed a payment in December and thats when I started to try and negotiate with them, The agency is Relieable Collections which is the same company, Home Shopping Direct, I have been paying them since January at the reduced rates and they accept the payments but I don't know if they are coming off the debts or not, I do know they are still adding interest and default payments because the debts still get bigger. They don't answer any letters I send them just send out more threating ones back, I have also sent them proof of payments made but nothing I do seems to satisfy them. I did write to them again and said that they where bordering on Harassment but again they just ignored the letter even though I asked them to acknowledge it.
I do feel better now I know we won't have bailiffs calling round so Thanks agian0 -
glad you feel better now, thats what we are here for
The reason you get more threatening letters is because its all part of a letter chain
So its nothing personal.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
