Huawei 3 Dongle Problems

Hello
Due to living in a remote location a family member has to use a Huawei Black MiFi Dongle on the 3 Mobile network to get internet access. This was easy to set up and works excellently with a desktop Dell computer and an Apple iPad. However we cannot get an Epson SX535 wireless printer to work wirelessley at all to print from either machine. The printer works perfectly when connected to the DELL via USB cable.
The printer is both AirPrint (Apple app') and EpsonPrint compatible.
W've tried setting the printer up to operate wirelessley from the Dell desktop using the USB connection as per the Epson instructions. The Dell and the printer go through the motions of transferring the settings but the printer still refuses to work wirelessley.
Searching the internet and Epson, Huawei and 3 Mobile websites doesn't provide any solutions.
Can anybody help us please

Not familiar with any of those but using the printer set-up on the printer (not on the PC) set the printer to use your wireless router and the password for the network and set it up to use a static address (rather than DHCP or the router assigned address) it should work.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Thanks for the speedy response.
We tried setting the connection up from the printer. It accepts all the codes etc and identifies the router correctly but we still can't get it to print wirelessley.0 -
Is it maybe because 3 uses the mobile network? I don't know, just thinking aloud.

Something odd or missing. I don't believe that these dongles incorporate a switch which means you can't use it to connect LAN connections, eg wireless printers. It is essentially a broadband tool, not a local network tool. However you speak of a router, this should work, what is it?0

The Huawei MiFi is specifically designed to provide a wireless link in poor signal areas. It receives the signal via the mobile phone network and re broadcasts the signal in the wireless spectrum . Review here

I know others have it working as we want it to with different wireless printers and various computers. Could it be a compatability problem with the Huawei and the printer?0 -
Will yr dongle allow you to use a static IP address for the printer?0

How do we set up the static IP address?
Can't find an option to do this on the pro terms settings.
Does it have to be done from the desktop machine.
V frustrating because the printer recognises the dongle when you go through
the wireless setup procedure0 -
In most routers there is an option to give a static IP address to a mac address within the range defined within the router - you should notice on the Epson printer probably near the s/n plate the mac address of the printer.
I am unfamiliar with this piece of kit, just giving some ideas, as I know that wireless printers can be bu**ers to set up anyway. I do usually set them up with static IP addresses if there is an issue with continued connectivity.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.........0 -
Your problem is not with your 3UK dongle. You seem to be rather confused by 'wireless', which works on many different frequencies etc. Wireless printers work to 802.11 spec at a frequencies of 2.4 GHz in the ISM band. Your 3UK Mobile dongle works to a different GSM spec at lower frequencies of 1920 GHz - 2170GHz hence they are incomparable. You need a 3G wireless router e.g. here
Read it again. The OP has a MiFi.What goes around - comes around0 -

We phoned the Epson help desk who told us that they are aware of a problem with the SX535WD and the MiFi from 3, but they couldn't offer a solution.
I'm annoyed that a known issue isn't publicised but then that wouldn't help sell printers.
Also interesting to see that in the MiFi manual that the one peripheral that is not shown is a printer.
Thanks for all your replies0
