Egg loan - refusing copy of agreement

I think I may have a PPI claim on an Egg loan I took out years ago which finished in Jan this year
They passed the loan over to Moorgate finance but I never signed any agreement with them, as I was just informed by letter and carried on making the payments
Egg have replied saying this - I can contact Moorgate and see what they can give me but my loan is now paid off, and this message says 'if your loan is still open' - surely someone has to have a copy I'm entitled to see even if it's ended?
I can confirm that we don't supply copies of Egg Loan agreements for closed Egg Loans. However, if your current loan is still open with Moorgate Loan Servicing, they'll have the copy of your agreement.

No. Once a relationship ends, the clock is ticking on the provider then destroying it rather than retaining documents longer than is necessary. Typically it is at least 6 years but that is the choice of the lender.surely someone has to have a copy I'm entitled to see even if it's ended?
I suspect what has happened though is that you have made a S78 request and that only applies to debts in force. Not those repaid.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
