Citroen c8 - water in footwell.

Hi all, wondered if anyone has experienced this before.
Just been to look at a 03 citroen c8. It was in great condition except for one little niggle, after a test drive, there was water in the drivers footwell when I lifted the battery cover. The rear washer didn't squirt when I tried it and this water smelt like screen wash so I presume there is a split pipe or similar.
Just wondered if anyone else had seen this before (and if its an easy fix) before I commit to buying it.

I had a VW Sharan where the passenger footwell filled with water. Not the same, because it wasn't screenwash, but I had it about three years and sent it to as many garages - all of whom 'investigated it', one changed the rubbers on the windscreen, I spent a LOT of money, and it was never fixed.

I part exed it, and a couple of years later was at an auction and it turned up - I was amazed, OH said it wasn't ours so we looked in the footwell - yep, still flooded :)

It may not be an easy fix, but it could be - I'd say investigate further.

Could be the door foil that sits behind the door interior panel is split where someones had the door apart for some reason if the back washer dont work and the pumps working id say thepipe has come apart on a joint properly from frost and been froze up quite common if its only got tap water in.

OP - what is the mileage on this car? If it's a diesel, you need to check that it's had a cam belt change at around the 40-50k mark.

Premature cam belt failure is a common problem on the 2.0 and 2.2 HDI, at around 50k miles. Mine had a new engine in July last year, luckily entirely at Citroen's expense, even though my car was 5 years old. They are very aware of this problem, but will not issue a recall. I'm currently in litigation with Citroen, in the hope that I can recover my other losses caused by the cam belt failure.
