wireless router settings - radio on/off?

can i just pick your techie brains please? i have a wirelss router with built in adsl modem. everything works fine and i have a little configuration setting minimised in the taskbar. there is a setting for radio on or off (this is currently 'on'). what is this - is it safer to turn it off? also there is a power save setting (which is currently set for 'disabled'), what is this also? thanks as always folks

If you are using wireless to connect, you need the radio ON. Not sure about your power save setting, as you have not given details of the make/model.
