Which HD connector for this Ultra ATA drive

Im usually fairly up to speed with most tech things though experience (15+ years ) rather than training

but Im a little confused with the below hard drive.

Its from a laptop my sister has asked me to have a look at which is dead (nothing on screen at boot, just a continued long beep then stops)
It wont even boot with Ultimate Boot Disc from CD
its an Ei system (medion made) #4416 MD41273 made for DSG

Ive got some external caddys (sata and ide) for 2.5" drives so thought id pull this out and plug it and and have a look what I can recover / repair

But it doesn't fit anything ive got nor can I seem to find something compatible to buy to be able to do so.

Its a 40 pin (including one missing key pin) but off set
Seagate Momentus 40gb ST94011A Ultra ATA/100

any suggestions on what cable or caddy I need to connect this up to a usb on my laptop (any hints on the laptop appreciated too) as most ones i can see dont seem to accommodate the offset pins

You need to remove the actual hard drive from the laptop adaptor plate - looks like a standard IDE connector.

Depending on the BIOS developer beeps usually mean probs with RAM, CPU, or motherboard - you can get beep codes from here: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/nonworkingcomponent/ht/beepcodestb.htm - reseating RAM (clean contacts, remove dust can often fix this).

    thanks

the built in ram it seems is hidden under the keyboard, and isnt easily accessible, there is spare slot on the back of the laptop, but that is empty so ram (although my first thought) isnt an easy option
the fact the screen has now gone blank is confusing me, it was initially reporting as attempting to boot with showing on the screen, the options to load in secure mode, then it will just loop through a reset.
now its just a blank screen
