Just to let you all know not to accept bids/payments from foreign buyers with unverified addresses. I sold a shirt to someone in singapore who seemed a bit weird but payed the money. he gave me feedback before I sent the item He gave me an address but it was unverified. I posted the item and 1 month later I recieve a paypal dispute saying he has not recieved. because I could not produce the postal reciept I had to pay the money back. Looking back at the ebay user he has had 3 IDs in the last 2 years and is now unregistered and Im sure he recieved the shirt and is a fraud.
Please do not send items;) abroad to people with unverified addresses and ALWAYS keep your postal receipt because Paypal do not assess the feedback scores or history of ebay users dispite their claims of a fair dispute process. Paypal are only interested in money and not its customers so please be warned.
If anyone has had similar problems with paypal or ebay, then please let me know. KEEP ALL YOUR POST RECIEPTS, even after feedback.

yet another who has fallen victim to Paypal.
Check out paypalsucks.com
also the only way of doing paypal is with an online trackable postal method any other proof of postage is not accepted by paypal."Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -
Being verified has nothing to do with anything. having a CONFIRMED address is the key."There is a light that never goes out"0

Yep, when you receive payment by paypal always check that the transaction has in green type above the buyers name and address 'eligible for seller protection' this means they have a confirmed address - it will also say confirmed in green above their address. As windswept says you are looking for a confirmed address.0 -
I believe that only UK and USA people can have their address confirmed. I have never had a confirmed address for any other european paypal customer I've had. If i am selling something of value then I refund them and get them to make an alternative payment.
For UK people I always insist on a confirmed address, otherwise I wont accept their paypal payment.0 -

How do they take the money off you???0 -
For fairly low value items, I will send to a european unconfirmed address, for anything of high value, I will only ship to UK confirmed if paypal, if unconfirmed I ask them to ring me and pay direct by credit/debit card or cheque, backed up by a landline number."There is a light that never goes out"0

You are correct it is confirmed address NOT verified.
I thinks its about time ebay looked after its regular high scoring clients by backed them in paypal disputes or at least offer some evidence in your favour rather than taking the money and forgetting. It seems the same old problem of our strict rules being flouted by devious foreigners. Ebay still allow counterfeiters to operate freely in asia and we have to pick up the costs. Cmon ebay, protect your customers!0 -
If you tick the 'paypal accepted' box when listing on Ebay and a non-verified buyer wins and wants to pay by Paypal, can you refuse, or is there something in the Ebay T&Cs that says because you accept paypal, you have to accept it from anyone?0

I think they can report you as a nonperforming seller but I would rather that than lose an expensive item. I will post to unconfirmed addresses but for expensive items (we all have our own limits as to what we will risk) I will only send to a confirmed address by trackable means.
Remember it has to be posted by TRACKABLE means to a confirmed address to qualify for seller protection, and as I've never had a dispute I have no idea of how this protection actually works.0 -
From PP's own website regarding Seller "Protection":
"The transaction is between any US, UK or Canadian buyer and any qualifying US, UK or CA seller. Please note that while sellers outside of US, UK and Canada may meet the other conditions of the Seller Protection Policy, they do not qualify at this time."0
