I got through to a foreign person too at Barclaycard think that's all u can speak too it's the number for the dept that deals with repayment plans , yeah I got the form eventually but not sure I can prove I can pay more as its more or less the same form I submitted to them! Halifax I never got any correspondence just my statement showing 0percent interest and the min payment was my offer, did u not get a letter from Barclaycard telling u about interest rate increase and giving u chance to reject and close the account?
I hope u can sort it out with a phone call tomorrow c

Yayyyyyy!!! I am having a good day!!!! Finally (a month to the day I posted my letter) I got a reply from Barclaycard!!!! Wooo hooooo!! And yes they have accepted my offer of payment on both accounts and they haven't stopped the interest but they are only charging 0.25% so thats a result! I am soooo happy!!
It has felt like a really long time but thinking about it, a month was not that long to wait for all my replies from my creditors and they have all been good to me and accepted. If anyone is reading my diary on here because they are considering doing what I have done then you should definitely go for it! It is easier than you think and personally I wish I had done this years ago. I would have probably been out of debt long ago if I had asked for help and done something about my problem. I am so relieved!
Other things I have done this week are to send a tax repayment claim to the inland revenue to claim for washing my work uniform (Thanks Martins money tips for that advice!) and I have sold some stuff on ebay which encouraged a pal of mine to give me some of her old rubbish to sell because she wants rid of it! She doesn't know about my money issues she just wanted to have a clear out and she doesn't want anything for it, she just thinks I enjoy ebay and that I will have some fun selling it! What a result!
I'm wondering now if this is good karma for the rubbish time I have been having previously or if it's all going to go downhill again very soon! Ha ha! But I am thinking positive! Onwards and upwards!
Oh and I joined Opinion outpost (because I read on the forum that another debt free wannabe was on there) where you do surveys in exchange for cash which you can transfer into your paypal account and I have earned a fiver in a week. Not a fortune but a free fiver is a free fiver!! If you have ten mins to spare every now and then to fill a survey in you should go for it! Just google opinion outpost and sign up.
I just want to say a quick thanks to everyone on here who has given me tips and advice so far and also good luck to you all and to anyone else reading my diary! Debt is a horrible thing, so easy to get into and so hard to get out of but with the hints, tips and advice from people on here I think that it is really achievable now for me and hopefully for you all too xx

My second pay day since my debt plan started and I had £50 left from last month!! This has never happened before! I always run out of money a week before pay day!
I have had a positive month concentrating on selling stuff on Ebay and doing online surveys to earn some extra cash and I have managed to pay off my catalogue! One debt down (even though it was only the smallest one) I am feeling good! Now I am concentrating on the next smallest debt, my £1k overdraft! Hoping to make enough on ebay to pay it off in 3 months. Wish me luck! And good luck to you all too! xx

Things have been very quiet debt wise over the past month or so, until today when I received a "notice of sums in arrears" from MBNA.
I'm not sure what to make of it. I thought it was just a standard letter at first, then I remembered something in the letter they sent me when they agreed to my payment offers and request to freeze interest that said to ignore such letters. I dug the letter out and it says ignore any that may have been sent out before the plan started but pay attention to any sent later. It does just seem like a standard letter though.
Fingers crossed I'm not in any bother!

Four months into my debt plan. Nothing much has changed payment wise. I have had no threatening letters or requests for me to pay more etc. It all seems a bit quiet... Not that I am complaining!
My plan seemed to start well and I got quite a bit paid off early on but this last month has been one of those hellish months where extra things suddenly start cropping up that need paying for and I am suddenly skint again!
Luckily I am still getting lots of things off my friend that I can sell for him on ebay and make a nice commission. It is really hard work as it is like doing 2 full time jobs but if I don't work hard I wont acheive anything so I have to plod on! I have paid off my 1k overdraft last month just from the ebay sales. I am slightly worried that if I keep paying this extra money off my debts though, they will say I can afford the full payments and put the interest back on! I have heard that can happen. So now I am wondering if I should leave any Ebay profit in my paypal account and just keep paying my agreed minimum on my debt plan. Once I have sold all this stuff I will have no extra income so I don't want to risk going back to square one with my debts.
Im sat at home today on a weeks holiday from work and all I have done all week is "work" on ebay. I feel a bit fed up that I have worked long hours all year in my main job and then when I finally get time off I can't enjoy it. It will probably take me at least three years maybe four to clear this debt and until then I can't afford a holiday or days out etc. It is my own fault, I got into this mess and it is up to me to get out of it but it is so frustrating. I have been in debt now for nearly 20 years! I am wasting my life just trying to pay it off. Getting in debt has to be the worst thing I have ever done. I guess I just need to tell myself that getting out of it will be the best! Focus and work hard!
Good luck to you all out there wo are reading this. Its a hard battle but I am sure we can all win it xx

    It's starting to go wrong!

Tonight I got a call from Yorkshire Bank about my credit card with them, they only agreed to give me 3 months interest free and now want me to pay all the arrears AND they are putting the interest back up AND they are threatening to charge me fines for being in arrears. This will totally undo the good I have done in the past 4 months! They have asked me to send them a new budget sheet and a new proposal and I have 30 days to do this and them to agree to it or I get fined etc.
But........... because I have payed my overdraft off this will show as me having extra money available to pay to my other debts..... which on my budget sheet will be split between all my debts. My problem is..... I have heard that if you increase payments, even by a minimal amount, then the CC companies see it as you now being able to afford the debt and they up the interest.... especially Barclaycard who I have Two cards with due to them taking over my Egg Card.
I can't risk everyone upping the interest! If they do i have just wiped out all the money I have managed to pay since they stopped it and I can't afford to go on!
Has anyone experienced this or do you have any advice? I don't know what to do! Like the woman from Yorkshire bank just said to me, If they are charging me and I'm still paying my lower payments then my debt is likely to increase!
    Advice needed please.
    Many thanks!!!

Well I sent a letter to Yorkshire bank on the 17th along with an updated budget sheet. I heard nothing apart from another letter asking me to contact them regarding the review of my account. I sent the letter recorded and have proof they received it. So why they are asking again I don't know. They gave me an email address in the letter they sent so I forwarded them a copy of the letter I sent them. They have had it twice now. Why wont they reply? Arrgh!

On the plus side I haven't had to pay my car insurance this month as My payment plan is over ten months and the ten months is up! So I paid the money I saved from that off my overdraft, resulting in my total debt coming down to the "24 K's" Only just mind, (24,992) but it is great to see the figure now starts with 24!! When I started in March it started with 27!!
Now I need to plan ahead to september when my car insurance runs out. I have been with the same insurer for years and every year it goes up! This year I'm going to shop around for a better deal and hopefully then I can save some money and pay that off my debt.
    Fingers crossed!
Feeling positive today but god knows how long that will last! I suppose it depends on what reply I get from Yorkshire Bank... If they bother to reply at all!
