Word 2002

If I type a some text in my Word 2002 then if if see I have mad a mistake and go back to correct it the letters get over written.

Can anyone tell me how to stop this?

    I think it's "Ins" insert button on your keyboard to deselect overwriting.

    Alternatively, if you have a look at the bottom of the Word screen, there should be some little boxes, one of which has OVR in it. If this is highlighted in Black, then Overwrite is turned on. If it is Grey, Overwrite is turned off. As Superscaper says, this can be controlled by the INS key but you can also double click the OVR letters to turn it on or off.

    Nothing happens when I press "insert button"

    OVR button is grey but still over writting can not double click on OVR key - nothing happens
  • Look at this

    If the OVR is greyed out then overtype is off, if it is back overtype is on.
