Block plan vs site location plan?

Hi all
We're getting our supporting docs ready to submit for planning permission of our garage extension. Aside from the actual drawing plans, we also require both a site location plan and a block plan.
We have our site location plan through using our land registry OS plan with red outlining the proposed extension. What then is the difference between this and the block plan? I hear scale talked about, but does that mean coming up with a whole new drawing and measuring out the house etc to go on the plan?
Also, with the general drawings of the extension (above and side views), whilst we will write the dimensions on, does it also have to be to scale?
Thanks all

Have a look at this advice (click on the link to the .pdf near the bottom of the page):http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/planning/applications/plans.
There are several differences, including, as you have said, one of scale, The Block Plan will also have some dimensions on it. The Site Plan is a specific print size (A4).A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove you don't need it.0 -
A location plan is typically 1:1250 and will show the site in context of surrounding area - roads, buildings open space etc
The site plan, typically 1:500 shows the property in context of the surrounding land - the garden, trees, access, part of the neighbouring property etc
All drawings have to be to a scale and in proportion. It is no good just marking dimensions on an out of proportion drawing0
