My Henry's conked out - worth fixing?

My Henry vacuum cleaner 'died' this morning. There was a bit of a 'burning rubber' smell and I realised the suction wasn't as good as usual, switched off to check the bag and found no problem there, and then it wouldn't switch back on at all, even after an hour cooling down completely. It's about six and a half years old and has worked perfectly until now, unlike all the uprights I've had in the past, which developed problems within a couple of years.
Given that a Henry isn't all that expensive and that's what I'd choose to replace it with, is there any mileage in asking an electrician to look at it? I don't like chucking things out if they can be revived, but it's presumably quite a significant electrical problem and a major part may need replacing, so am I just throwing good money after bad if I do that?
Would appreciate any advice!

Brand new Henry £69.99 + VAT at Makro. Makes sense unless you can get yours repaired for around a tenner or less.0

Thank you very much. I didn't realise that you could buy from Makro Online without a Makro card - at least I think this is the case; it says something about that on the Google search page but couldn't find the relevant info on the Makro site. It's only about a pound more via Amazon with free delivery, and ideally I'd choose that as I'm used to Amazon, but it isn't in stock until Wednesday.
You don't happen to know whether Amazon use Royal Mail for big items like this, do you? - or whether Makro do, for that matter? It's so easy to rearrange redelivery for a time when you're at home. Not sure what to do if it's delivered via a courier.Life is mainly froth and bubble

Amazon and other online retailers will use a courier for something that bulky as Royal Mail is too expensive. (If they used a Royal Mail service it would be Parcel Force and they are worse then some courier companies.)
If you can't get it delivered to friend/relative who is likely to be in that day, or have a neighbour who is in that couriers will ring the door bell for you are a bit stuffed in this internet age.
Amazon can, if you ring them up and explain you have problems with a particular courier company use a different one, as they tend to use two per area but that's it.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Thanks, that's helpful to know. I'll have to ask my next-door neighbour, who's almost always in - I know she'll say yes, it's just a courtesy thing with a big bulky package like that.Life is mainly froth and bubble
