Thinking of switching

I got my gas/elec bill this morning & I'm shocked at the total. I'm currently on npowers' spreading warmth social tariff. I expected my bills to be cheaper on this tariff, but it's proving to be the opposite.
I'm looking to switching but don't really know how to go about comparing tariffs & how to get the best deal.
Any advice would be appreciated.

You need your annual consumption in kWh for both your gas and your electricity - it might show on your bill somewhere or if not, give your supplier a call and ask them. Pop these figures in a comparison site and that's the calculations done for you... If your usage is high, you could also see what you can do to try and reduce it
