Duration of employment and getting first mortgage

Hi All, just a quick one.
I've never been out of work apart from once when I went travelling for about 9 months. I came back and went on the dole for about 3 months. Apart from this I've had full time work since leaving college at 18. I am 26 now.
Would they just look that since travelling I worked in a bank for 12months and my current job only 8 months and deny me?
What seems to be the standard?

There is no standard as such, however if you have been in employent at the same place for 6 months that should be fine.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Your historic employment record is pretty much irrelevant. As ACG said, a lender wants your current employment details and the longer you've been employed, or self-employed, the better.I am a mortgage broker.
