Another challenge ends 19th
This time it’s a race against the toaster, rather than the clock. We put our pedal to the metal in the Motor v Toaster challenge. The objective? To complete one full lap of our track before the toast pops up! But can the Motors Motor pull it off?
What do you think won this challenge? For you toaster boffins out there, the model used was a Kenwood TTM320 series…
Get this right and you could win 50 quid – plus you’ll get an entry into our grand prize draw!
Just two options for the answer: Motor or Toaster

As part of a series of challenges set for the Motor’s motor to complete, we put it through the ultimate test in performance – the bleep test.
The challenge was to drive as quickly as possible between 2 lines, still racing against the beep. That meant driving forward to reach one line, and switching to reverse (wasting as little time as possible) to get back to the other. What bleep test level do you think the Motor’s Motor reached?

I haven't had chance to watch the video yet so I've no idea of the level reached (sure I still won't have an idea even when I have watched!)0 -

Our Motors Motor was maneuvered through a series of cones before being squeezed into a very tight parking space between four of them.
Our Triumph Dolomite is a classic car and because it was manufactured in the very very early 1980s, it doesn’t have power assisted steering.
How well do you think it handles?
There’s a 5 second penalty for every cone hit! Let us know what you think our overall parking time was (and how many cones the Motors Motor bumped into) and you could win 50 quid – plus you’ll get an entry into our grand prize draw.

In this challenge, we put the brakes to the test in our Triumph Dolomite by speeding up to 50mph before hitting the anchors – but how long do you think it took for the Motor’s Motor to reach 50mph and come to a halt?
0 - 100- 0 is another contest which has been dominated by the Bugatti Veyron super-sport. It’s even beaten the world-class Suzuki GSX-R1000 superbike. Of course, the Bugatti Veyron has modern pedal disc brakes, whereas our Motors Motor is fitted with its original drum brakes. The Bugatti Veyron reached 100mph before stopping in just 3.4 seconds. Impressive!
But how many seconds do you think it took the Motors Motor to reach 50mph, and then get back down to 0?

Motor V kettle
Next one ends 02/04
After our defeat by the toaster (with just 2 seconds to spare!) the pressure is really on in our Motor’s Motor v Kettle challenge. The objective is simple; complete a full circuit of the track before the kettle boils. But would we reach the finish line in time for a cuppa?
The kettle used was a Russel Hobbs, model number 17874, with enough water to make a couple of cups of tea. Yum!

New one fastest lap challenge ends 09/04 (by my calculation - the dates on my first post are a bit strange:()
A traditional motoring challenge this time! From a standing start, our Motor’s Motor attempts its fastest lap, but what was the lap time?
The track at Castle Combe circuit is mostly flat with a slight hill, circling the parameter a disused air base, and is 1.85 miles (2.98 Km) long. The circuit has 7 turns and a lap record of just 59 seconds! Allegedly, a dolomite sprint managed to complete a circuit of the track in 1 minute and 28 seconds back in 2006.
In 2008, an Audi R8 completed a circuit in 1 minute and 15.5 seconds, a Porsche 911 Turbo in 1 minute and 14.9 seconds and a Nissan GT-R in 1 minute and 14.6 seconds.
We think our Motor’s Motor will be a little bit slower than these fancy sports cars (plus, Stephen is no trained F1 driver!) What’s your guess?

Balloon Fill Up ends 12/04
A bit of a *light* hearted challenge this time. We filled up our Dolomite with as many balloons as we could – but how many do you think we got in there?
With our driver and navigator sat in the front, we squeezed as many inflated balloons as we could fit into the Motors Motor. This included the back seats, the foot wells and on and around the driver and navigator, until nothing was visible through the windscreens but balloons! None went in the boot or bonnet, but how many do you think we got in?
The dimensions of a Triumph Dolomite Sprint like our Motors Motor are 4.125 metres in length, 1.588 metres wide and 1.372 metres high. The dimensions of a balloon are… well… relative. Go on, give it your best guess!

No Eyes Just Ears ends: 16/04
In the UK, the law states drivers must be able to read a licence plate and road signs from a distance of 20 metres away (or 20.5 metres for old style plates). But what happens if you take away your drivers vision completely? In our ‘No eyes, just ears’ challenge, our driver was blindfolded and directed only by passenger navigation. Do not try this at home!
How quickly do you think the driver of our Motors Motor can complete a full lap of the track with no eyes, just his ears to guide him? Bearing in mind our fastest lap (without the blindfold) was 2 minutes and 15 seconds?..

Motors Taxi Challenge ends: 20/04
This time, our Motors Motor samples life as a taxi! The challenge is to pick up three passengers (sounds simple enough, right?) but the catch is to do so while completing a full lap of the track!
But were all of our fares collected, and did we get them to the finish point in time?
Every year, certain local authorities across the country host awards to celebrate UK taxi drivers and operators. For instance, Oadby and Wigston Borough Council in Leicestershire hold an annual ‘Taxi Good Practice’ award, inviting members of the public to rank taxi companies and their drivers for safe driving, customer service and professionalism. Do you think our Motors Motor did well enough to warrant an invite?

Red or Black Challenge ends: 23/04
In the final of our fourteen Motors Motor challenges, the driver is directed only by the luck of the draw. The navigator, Dermot, must select a card at random from a pack; Red takes the Motors Motor South, while black takes it North. There are 52 cards in a pack and we put 30 minutes on the clock… From the starting point of Milton interchange on the A34 (near Didcot), where do you think the Motors Motor ended up?
Get this right and you could win 50 quid – plus its the last chance to gain entry into our grand prize draw!
