Which kitchen - John Lewis or Second Nature?

Thanks to all posters to my previous kitchen thread - you've really helped!
I've narrowed the choice of kitchen units down to John Lewis (not the 'First collection') or Second Nature. Are they both much of a muchness or is one a better bet?
For both it will be a pale wood shaker style - don't know whether its worth the expense of in-frame doors or not - any opinions?
I've a local fitter lined up and intend to buy the units online where they are cheaper. Can't believe how much I will save/what better quality I can get by doing that rather than the Wickes/Homebase/ Magnet options.
looking forward to your thoughts

Hi
If you are looking at Jonelle kitchens at John Lewis, you are going to get Mereway which can be purchased through independents or online, possibly for a lot less.
If going Second Nature, you are effectively just buying doors distributed by PWS. These are then put on carcases by the seller and quality of the carcase you get is very much down to where they are sourced from and unless you can pinpoint this, its a gamble might be taking.
Have you got the kitchen designed? That is by far the more important issue as I don't think either brand has anything to offer that the other doesn't.

I've been thinking of buying a Second Nature kitchen also.
Does anyone have any experience of this site as the prices are very competative:

I was going to buy from DIY-kitchens buy bought from here instead. Better carcasses (18mm back panels to base and wall units as apposed to 8mm) and much cheaper.

We've looked at them after seeing positive reviews on here. We visited their showroom in Yorkshire and they were very helpful. My understanding was that they are 18mm units not 8mm as Ionkontrol says?
edit: just double checked and their website says they are 18mm http://www.diy-kitchens.com/faqs.asp0 -
The Jonelle brand was being progressively dropped from about 9-10 years ago, everything has been "John Lewis" or other brands for quite a while now.Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0

In that case the John Lewis branded kitchen is the Mereway Kitchen. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Just because they have 18mm backs as opposed to 8mm doesnt really matter. Its the quality of the chipboard used and the way the carcasses are made.
One of the German kitchens, Hacker I think it is, has a hardboard back. Probably no more than 3mm but because it is screwed and glued and the rest of the cabinet is made from high density chipboard its not to much of a problem.
Diy-kitchens are very hard to beat on the quality of their carcassesIonkontrol wrote: »I was going to buy from DIY-kitchens buy bought from here instead. Better carcasses (18mm back panels to base and wall units as apposed to 8mm) and much cheaper.

Your right in thinking they are both good quality kitchens so go for the one you preferrichmond155 wrote: »Thanks to all posters to my previous kitchen thread - you've really helped!

I got my kitchen from this site. we even visited the factory
and were given a tour of the workshop where they make the carcasess, the doors are made by PWS as the other poster said. its family firm, and they are very friendly and helpful , even if you need design advice over the phone.
I wouls say deffo use them.you wont get second nature doors anywhere cheaper and the units are vg quality.0
