Hi,
A very low tech question for the techie board but I was hoping someone might be able to tell me approximately how much it might cost to get a watch battery replaced in one of those little shops you get in shopping centres (or somewhere like timpsons if they do watches??)
I would try and do it myself but I dont have the tool to get the back off and I dont want to damage it.
Thanks in advance

I had one done by a man in our local market for £3, it might cost a bit more in a shop but it shouldn't be more than about £5 or so.0

Shame you can't get the back off only I had the same problem.
Bought a $2 watch on holiday lasted four years and the battery packed up. Went into the "Pound shop" and bought 50 assorted button cell ones for a £1 They range from AG1,3,4,10,12,13. (Hyundai) Ok some I may never use but have uses for most.
Hope that is some help.By the way got the back off mine with a very fine screwdriver.0 -
I thought the cost was nearer to a tenner. The thing is, if your watch is water resistant, there is a chance the seal may be broken. That's why expensive brands such as Omega and Tag Heuer insist that they're sent of to them. I think the cost in those instances is around £25.0

Cost for relacelemtn and waterresistance testing for expensive swiss brands (eg Omeag, Tag) is around 25 (as said above) from eg https://www.chealwatch.com. If however you're not ever going to get your watch wet then your local market will do it for a fiver or less. I do my own, batteries are cheap and I have the right tools to remove all backs of watches I own.0

Funnily enough I did this today. Took two watches to local jewellers.
£9.45 they charged to replace batteries, with no gurantee they would be water resistant anymoreWe all evolve - get on with it0 -
A good jeweller would probably do it for the price of the battery (I think).
