Painting a pvc door

We have a wood grain effect, black upvc door. Would anyone know if this can be painted and if so what kind of paint would we use.

Many Thanks

I thought that the whole point of having a PVC door was that you never had to paint it.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

  • This is a message for Nickj or anyone who has used Bedec Multi Surface Paint.

I am looking to use this product to add some colour to my uPVC windows and guttering and a metal garage door.

It seems like the perfect product, what are you experiences with it? Do you apply with a brush or spray and how many coats to you use?
Do you think it can withstand a standard amount of wear and tear?

You comments would be much appreciated before I take the plunge.

you say UPVC primer worked OK - fair enough
but isn't it the case that the wood grain effect on UPVC windows is in fact a metal film/layer over the UPVC

not that I would personally ever paint them - thats the very reason I went for non wood frames
  • We have used this paint to paint a badly faded / marked UPVC canopy and windows externally and it has been excellent it comes in colours too ours has been done just over a year and it is still good as new hope that helps we are really pleased

Not something i would recommend to be honest but the darker colours do seem to attract more heat and !!!!!!s the locks up.

Our brown door warps every summer
