External Property Works?

Well another question...........

You may have all seen my post about selling our property and luckily we have not had any viewings since this saga but could this be why as I just had a thought that when I see a house I like, I drive to it first before I make a viewing, if people are doing this, no way they will view our property.

OK basically outside out property they erected wood things - I suppose it was supposed to make it look nice - you can see them in the picture all along the top and randomly dropping down the building http://media.rightmove.co.uk/3k/2123/2123_SHP101627_IMG_00.JPG - HOWEVER the builder forgot to treat the wood so it was like bare open wood, now obviously subject to weather the wood looks very old and dated, water marked etc. We have been complaining about this since day one and finially they management company have got the builders to do something about it and this is what happened :

We got letter on 23rd Jan stating what they were doing (removing and replacing all wood with new treated wood) and would be erecting scaffolding W/C 29th Jan and it would take 2 weeks to complete the job of replacing the wood subject to weather. So should have been finished 9th Feb. They didn't even start erecting the scaffolding till 5th Feb and only finished erecting it 16th Feb (2 weeks to erect the scaffolding Shocked ) the lady reckoned due to high winds, but there were no high winds in our area and limited rain over those 2 weeks. (also our Juliet balcony doors are filthy cause of them and they have put the scaffolding in-between the door and the balcony bars which I'm sure cant be right, Ill get a pic tonight if I remember) so this is the 5th week since they were supposed to start but the 3rd week since the actually started so they are 3 weeks behind according to the letter or 1 week behind according to their 2 week time scale from when they started.

Anything we can do about this, ive tried contacting them direct and its always ''2 weeks'' I know builders are builders but they are potentially loosing us sales - Im guessing all I can do is sit back and wait for them to finish wether this be 1 week or 6 months?

  • Meant to say, Im in during the day alot of the time and they sometimes don't even come for 2 days (and this has happened when no rain or wind).

Also wanted to ask if they are contravening some kind of health and Saftey with having some scaffodling bars coming inbetween our doors and the balcony railings (which means when doors open, the scaffolding bars are our first point of contact infront of the balcony rails - plus my dopey partner bangged his head on the wood when he was looking out the doors at something (yes I laughed but seriously, is it a H&S issue)

If you raise an H&S issue then things will slow down even more so I'd keep quiet. Quite possibly it is the reason you've not had any viewings, if you keep badgering then it might speed things up - just look at it as the perfect opportunity to get your flat looking tip top.

Yeah I suppose it could slow it down. I'll keep quiet about that then! I'll keep badgering BUT I doubt it will do any good with these good for nothing shoddy builders. A friend on a lower floor had a leak in to her apt from the apt above in Sept and she is still waiting for it to be rectified properly and this is AFTER weekly emails!!

    they really are shocking!
