Holiday scam?

Following a telephone 'sell' my 73 year old father paid £300 for three weeks (1 week per year) 5 star holiday accommodation via The Gift Company.
When they got their details through there are only two locations in the UK one a holiday village 10 miles from their home the other a log cabin holiday village in Wales.
Following a phone call they were advised that other accommadation would be added in due course. This was not what they wanted and asked for a refund but were told that this was not possible. I notice the company address at the bottom of the page is in Spain.
There was no cooling off period following the purchase.
Can anybody advise me what I should do to try and get their £300 back for them?
Does it make any difference that they paid by credit card?
Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks for quick reply.
Yes it is giftcomp.
The dti link is really helpful. I will remind them that they did not give him any cooling off period as a first shot and see what they say.0 -
Have you tried contacting the credit card company he paid it through. If it's a scam then I'm sure they'd like to know about it.0
