Bankrupt - can PPI be claimed still ?

Hi
My friend was made bankrupt (voluntary bankruptcy) late 2008 discharged 6 months later early 2009, after her husband lost his job and they could no longer afford all the loan repayments. My question is can she claim PPI mis sold still ?
For example - if she owed Lloyds say £10k and she claimed missold PPI which then totalled with interest more than £10k, is she allowed to keep the remainder or does that have to go towards other debts that were part of the bankruptcy ?
She has quite a few loans that we are considering trying to claim misselling on, as she was told she couldnt have the loan unless she had the PPI. Just need to know what the position is ?
It doesnt seem right that she cant claim it back, if it was missold. I understand that it will possibly ? have to go to her creditors but as I said to her it may be worth a couple of stamps, who knows there may be some surplus.
Any advice would be appreciated.

If your friend now come into money by any other means, say inheritence, she wouldnt owe any of the companies now she is discharged.
However, not sure if the company she had in her bankrupty are in their rights to take any under these terms.
I will be very interested to hear of your replies!

She can complain. However, she will not get any money for it. The lender is allowed to offset it against debts that were written off or pay it to the official receiver to pass on to her creditors that she didnt pay.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
