My car (I wasn't driving it at the time) has just received a parking ticket from CMS UK LTD whilst in a retail park. The reason given is "Left Premises". It was parked at xx.40 & the ticket was issued at xx.46.

Now the driver did leave the car park to go & post a letter but then was intending to go back to the to the retail park to have a look at Sports Direct, but when he/she saw the ticket on the car he/she just left. He/she took a photo of the terms & conditions displayed and it doesn't even say that you can't leave the premises.

Do we have to pay this & if we don't do I have to write to them to appeal it?

Many thanks in advance for any replies. He/she is a student and £55 or £90 on a 6 minute stay in a car park seems a bit much.

Well ignore it of course and the letters that follow, as it's a scam. Almost every thread on this forum is about these fake PCNs!

Read the top sticky thread 'PPC letters & threats' and watch the Watchdog video. Just play a game of 'PPC snap' with each letter that matches the pics in the top thread. Easily found heading the forum index, only a click away.

Simple. It's not a fine and not a parking ticket. Do not give the scammers any info at all by thinking there's an 'appeal procedure' (LOL!).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Well they are issuing invoices out even when you don't breach their pathetic rules, so lets see you park with a red car, and they issue an invoice saying red cars are not allowed, so pay us money! That is how pathetic it really is. This will never go to court ever! If it did you have photographic evidence that you abided by all their terms and conditions of their sign.

Please tell the driver this, the registered keeper is about to receive toilet paper in the post. If it was me after receiving a few I would send them a LBA with a copy of the image saying that you are about to issue proceeding against them for their illegal pursuit of you and for harassment as nothing is due.

I just want to say a big thanks to everyone who has replied. I know that some of you have said these things thousands of times but I had never heard of this scam until today. You have just saved a very hard-up young person £55 at least.

Glad to help a little, just to tell you that whilst our advice is free and have said the above thousands of times, we expect one thing from you in payment, please tell at least 10 others this advice ;)

The reason they would like you to appeal isn't because they have the slightest intention of listening to what you say. It is so that they won't have to pay DVLA £2.50 to get the keeper details.

Just ignore everything they send you. If you have a friend with a pet rodent the letters make good bedding.

Most likely they are using the term "customers car-park" as your breach of their made-up contract, saying that as you left site you were not a customer therefore you were trespassing.

The damages for trespassing will be zero, it's a free-car park, you were a customer.
  • My car was ticketed by CMS UK this morning when my husband parked for just 3 minutes to put a letter through the door of an office next to M & S in Cleveleys, Lancs. They have 'fined' us £90, or £55 for early settlement. I just want to say many, many thanks for these forums, they have just saved me a lot of money. With winter approaching, I look forward to my threatograms, which should save me a fortune on firelighters, and I can sit with my glass of wine watching the flames, knowing that CMS are wasting their money, not mine.:j

Welcome to the club ! There's nothing better watching a parasite spend their own money needlessly :rotfl: ( with the possible exception of seeing Perky's face when he was banned by DVLA ! ).
All aboard the Gus Bus !
