Copied CD will play on some but not all

Copied a music CD from an original onto a blank disc - the computer burnt the disc ok and the copy plays fine in both the cd players in the cars and in a couple of cd units in the house but will not play on all the units - how could that be ???

Could be a number of things....
How did you copy the CD and did it have any copyright protection on it?
Not all players will play copies of CDs. Try a different brand of CD if you're sure you're making good copies.

Not all units will play copied CD's. Depending on age for a start, some may just not like the format of the cd (is it data files, or an audio cd? MP3 cd?)

Even with some new units you will get some that play, some don't. It could just be down to them not being able to play CDR's, or could be the type of CD you used, burning method etc.

CDs are made by burning holes in a thin layer of foil sandwiched between plastic. Instead of burning holes in foil, CDRs use a dye instead and a laser is used to change the colour of the dye.

The optical distinction between holes and no-holes is greater than between burnt and unburnt dye, which is why some CD players cannot read (or are less likely to read) CDRs.

Anyway, aren't threads discussing copyright infringement prohibited on this forum...?

It might not be copied. A lot of schools and of course, indie musicians, record concerts to cd (and DVD) and use CD/DVD/ Rs/RWs/
