Barclaycard 2.9% life of balance transfer

Options
I've got an application form for a Barclaycard with a 0% offer on balance transfers until March 2006. I've just read Martin's article on the existing customer offer available for balance transfers after any new customer offers have ended, for 2.9% for the life of any other balances transferred to it. I just want to know if this is still available if I were to apply for this card now?

Also, as I've seen that they are not too generous with credit limits, if I were to send them a copy of a statement from my existing credit card saying that this was the balance I would be transferring to them, is it likely they would give me a higher limit?

Thanks for any help!

    Hi,
As far as I am aware the 2.9% offer is no longer available to existing customers. It has now gone up to 5.9% for the life of the balance. Barclaycard are not always great when it comes to credit limits, however, I think it depends on your income and the amount of available credit you have. A friend of mine got a 10K limit recently.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The 2.9% was the main bit for me so I probably won't be applying for it. Shame - that car loan could have done with a helping hand!
  • Surely 0% until March 2006 would be a big help anyway. In March 2006 you would probably be able to get another low rate deal from another card.

I'm in the process of putting a car on a card instead of getting a loan. I've taken Martin's advice and applied for the Texaco card, which gives 3.9% life of balance, which is better than the 5.7% I can get from the best available loan :-)

I applied for the Texaco card but got refused as they probably think I've stoozed way too much! If my Dad was to apply for it could he BT from one of my cards onto his and then I simply pay him to pay it off instead? I know he'd be technically taking on my debt but hopefully he trusts me enough!
