Let' say you fell ill, then waited for six months before you made a claim to the insurer. That's a retrospective claim. Is that what you did?
Yes.If you fail in your claim, you make a complaint to the insurer. After eight weeks it can't satisfy you, so you escalate the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Is this what happened?
This is what I am in the process of doing.Where does the FSA come into this?
They are regulated by the FSA.If you've complained to the FOS, where are your complaints upto?
So this was a claim, rather than a complaint?
Have not yet reached the 8 week period of the complaints process to be investigated.
Hope that helps.0 -
Ok.
So referring back to my comment in post #4, you appear to be in this stage;-The recognised complaint route means you should allow the insurer an opportunity to investigate and to reach a final conclusion which it should communicate to you within 8 weeks. At that point, if you remain unsatisfied, you have the right to escalate the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service for resolution.
Hope that clarifies. Not much you can do at this time. Post back when you have an update or if you need anything else...I am a mortgage broker. Most referrals get you to a psychologist.
Since around 1999 I've never heard of one that doesn't have such a clause.0 -
