Banks don't have to tell you about CPA's when you cancel a card.

However, in order for a CPA to be processed it must have either a flag which identifies it as a recurring transaction so that it can be forced through when a card has expired, or the card number is no longer valid, or it will have a special MID (Merchant ID) which accompanies the transaction and identifies it as a recurring transaction.

So although your bank cannot tell you about CPA's that you have cancelled with the company who set them up, they can if they wanted to (which they don't and getting the data to find it out yourself might prove difficult) tell you which transactions have been put through your account as a recurring transaction.

This would only apply to the second and subsequent transaction as the intial transaction would be authorised normally, it is only after this that the recurring transaction field would be positive or the recurring transaction MID would be used.

This obviously contradicts what you have read above, but you need an intimate understanding of the EMV (Europay, Mastercard, Visa) rule book to fully understand transaction processing.
