Hi, here's the situation, I am looking to get a mortgage on our house, that we own outright, worth about 90-100k, to do some home improvements and pay off credit card debt of about 4k. were looking to borrow about 50k, credit cards are nearly maxed, Is it worth us paying off credit cards first? My husband is the main earner 25k, and I have a buy to let property that gives me a small income, but is on a mortgage of 71k, value 115k ish no problems with mortgage payments or anything as rent covers it. We've never had ccj's or anything like that just small blips like going over overdraft limit at christmas. Do you think I should speak to a mortgage broker? If we can do this we will only have the mortgage payment debt, Will mortgage providers ignore the credit cards if they are to be cleared immediately on mortgage completion ?
We both have overdraft but these are repaid when we get paid but we end up on them again at the end of month !! Any advice is greatly recieved, thanks

I think you need to fix your spending problem first.
You will have even less money every month if you are paying off a mortgage.0 -
£46k on home improvements?
A potential lender may take some convincing.0
