Crumbling brickwork

Hi, we live in a 1920's built bungalow. The front of the house is north facing and doesn't receive much light/warmth. We have noticed that some of the brickwork on the corners of the front walls of the bungalow seem to be crumbling. If you rub your hand over the corner bricks, they crumble a bit under your hand. Can anyone shed any light on this please? How do we sort this?
Many thanks for any help.

One of the major reasons for brickwork damage is due to water getting into the brick, freezing and expanding and thus causing damage. It might not look very nice, but it is unlikely to cause the house to fall down. If it is very bad then the only solution is to cut the affected bricks out and replace them with as good a match as possible. I always feel that areas of non matching brick in a building are just showing a bit of the history of the building.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
